Should you be experiencing problems with outgoing email not sending, please ensure that your outgoing server either uses port 465 SSL connection.

 

Alternatively, port 587 with STARTTLS selected for encryption.

 

Basic steps:

Step 1: Open Account Settings

Open Microsoft Outlook.

Click on File in the top-left corner.

Under Account Information, click on Account Settings > Account Settings.

Step 2: Access Email Account Settings

In the Account Settings window, select your email account and click on Change.

Step 3: More Settings

In the Change Account window, click on More Settings in the bottom-right corner.

Step 4: Enable STARTTLS

Go to the Advanced tab in the Internet Email Settings window.

a) For outgoing server (SMTP), change the port to 465 and set the type of encrypted connection to use SSL.

b) For outgoing server (SMTP), change the port to 587 and set the type of encrypted connection to STARTTLS.

Click OK to close the Internet Email Settings window.

The Network fault has been restored.

Update: Upstream network engineers are in the process of repairing fibre-optic cable damaged due to attempted cable theft.

Numerous reports have been made of network outages affecting both local and international connectivity.

Undersea cable operator Seacom has stated it is experiencing multiple critical outages on its terrestrial network across Egypt.

“All our international connectivity through Egypt has been affected since 14:06 GMT on the 21st January 2016,” said the company.

“Repair teams have been dispatched. Seacom continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide necessary updates.”

NAPAfrica, a layer 2 Internet Exchange (IX) point located within each Teraco data centre, reported a sharp drop in traffic across its South African IX points from around 16:00 on 21 January.

Multiple undersea cable outages and “large networks being offline” were also reported .
